Home Learning Week Six- 8th February

How are you getting on spelling February correctly? It's a tricky one!

Welcome to week six of your remote learning LKS2! Did you enjoy our volcano gasses lesson on Teams last week?

Keep going with maths and English every day if you can. We know you've worked very hard this half term and are getting tired. Half term will be here soon and we can all have a rest!

Don't forget you can be reading everyday with books on the Epic! site we we have sent you details about.  Keep going with TTrockstars and Numbots too.

Send your completed work to your portfolio so your teacher can mark it. You can download the sheets from the website and work on them digitally if you want, then you can send them as a file to your portfolio if you would rather do it that way. If you are taking a photo of your completed work, please make sure we can see it clearly and remember to read your teachers comments and respond to them if you need to. Keep an eye out for the videos from your teacher on ClassDojo too to help you with your learning.

Have a good week!

This week’s PE: LKS2 will be completing a sequence of PE sessions based on Boxfit. These lessons have been provided by Idsall Secondary School with help from Bridgnorth Boxing Academy. All lessons last approx. 25 - 45mins, including an element where pupils have to learn independently following teacher led activities. Please follow the link below and select the fourth Boxfit video lesson.

LO: to understand that adding the –ly suffix to an adjective turns it into an adverb.

First let’s see how you got on with the words from last week! Look out for the video on Dojo testing last week's words, or use the PPT below.

Adding ly to an adjective creates an adverb that describes HOW the verb in the sentence is being done. For example,

The fox jumped quickly – the adverb quickly describes how the fox jumped.

Have a go at the activities and don’t forget to practise these words each day.

LO – To understand how rocks on our Earth's surface change

In this lesson, we will learn how rocks change. We will look at rocks as big as mountains and as small as a grain of sand and learn the processes that form each. We will look at erosion, weathering and the movements of tectonic plates. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil for this lesson.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/how-do-the-rocks-on-our-earths-surface-change-65jkjt

You have now completed your ‘Rocks’ topic. Have a look at this knowledge organiser here and see how much you know now! There is a section that refers to soil types – we haven’t done this yet as it requires lots of different soil samples which are in school. We will learn all about this in our Plants topic during the Summer term so don’t worry.

LO:  to experiment with printing techniques

You have been learning about Katsushika Hokusai and looking closely at his pictures. He was a well known Japanese painter and printmaker. Today you are going to be learning how he created the woodblock prints and have a go at a similar technique.

Watch this video to see how woodblock prints are created and used. This is how  Katsushika Hokusai created his prints too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=kEubj3c2How

We would like you to have a go at your own block printing. You can use everyday items to created block printing such as string on cardboard, potatoes and foam plates. The following video talks you through creating block prints using these objects. We know you may not have rollers, trays and printing pain, but use what you have at home.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/art-and-design-printmaking-different-materials/zhytscw

You can choose any picture you would like to print. It could be your pet, an outside scene or a pattern of shapes.

Can you have a go? Remember to send us a photo of your art!
