Hello Year 1
What a fabulous week we had last week! Full of jousting knights and missed kisses! This week we learn how best to attack and defend a castle! Your teacher will have sent you information about GetEpic - a fantastic online library for us all to access from home. Check ClassDojo to find out details of how to log in to your class page and start exploring!
This week is Children's Mental Health Week and this year the theme is Express Yourself. We will be posting small tasks that we will be completing with the children in school via ClassDojo. There are lots of resources on the Children's Mental Health Week website that you can use at home and an online assembly which will be available from Monday 1st Feb - we will send you a link!
Your weekly outline of all subjects is below. Remember your teacher will be uploading daily videos modelling and introducing the lessons being completed in school that day. More daily lessons across all subject areas are still available to dip into on BBC Bitesize and Oak National Academy if you require them.
Take care everyone - stay safe and keep working hard!
English
This week, we are thinking about The Kiss That Missed! Read through English Week 5 below to guide you through the lessons. We will be using our story maps to help us sequence the story- so keep them handy!

We do a LOT of sorting between nonsense and real words in Year 1 building towards the Phonics Screener in June. Have a look at Phonics Play as we use it a lot at school. Lots of games to choose from and they are offering free access to their site again due to lockdown. Games such as Dragon's Den, Picnic on Pluto and Buried treasure are fantastic for practising blending.
Grammar
This week we will be looking at how to use the exclamation mark ! Open the Powerpoint and Mrs Lambert will talk you through the activities. There are some sheets for practise as well.

We would do this once a week. Try the reading comprehension activity below. They cover sounds that we have already covered in class.
