Newsletter - January 14 (c)
Dear Parents,
Web-site and Twitter Account
We are trying hard to improve communication lines between home and school. Our web-site is being upgraded and should be on-line before the Easter holiday. In the meantime, the current site has been up-dated with the main information and will continue to operate until the changeover to the new site. Governors have assisted with the design of the new site and information about diary dates and current news will be easier to access. The new drop-down menus will ensure that navigation is logical and the site will also be able to upload a greater number of photos and videos to demonstrate the work and activities of the children.
Governors have also suggested that the school opens a Twitter account. You will now be able to access this using the @headstandrews tag. The account will only be used to provide information about dates and events to complement the same features within the website. Any other issues should be raised in the normal way – through contact at the school office or email.
A reminder that the new email address is:
Dinner Supervisor
We will be sad to say “Goodbye” to Helen Cole who has been a dinner supervisor at the school for a number of years. We all want to wish her well as she moves to Wales to be nearer to her family and thank her for many years of loyal service. Her leaving has meant that there is now a vacancy. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in becoming a dinner supervisor, could you please contact the school office and we can provide further information and an application form?
School Uniform
We have been approached by Mr and Mrs Williams, parents at the school, who have just started a new embroidering firm for school uniform to see whether the school would be willing to use their services. The quality of their work is excellent and the office staff and governors believe that their personalised and local service will offer a genuine alternative to the current internet-driven providers, Mapac. In addition to the usual sweatshirts, PE equipment and school bags, additional items include reasonably priced and high quality fleeces and beanie hats. Mr and Mrs Williams intend to carry out all of the procedures for the orders themselves. Order forms can be picked up from the Reception entrance and, when completed, placed in the mailbox that will be positioned there. These will be picked up on a weekly basis, processed and the completed orders will then be delivered to local addresses when payment will be made. Exact details will follow shortly just prior to this new service being introduced. We are expecting that parents may appreciate a local service, particularly for “emergency” and mid-term purchases. Parents are, of course, welcome to choose which service they prefer. Can I also stress that all of the other arrangements are in still in place and that the school does not stock any uniform.
Dates
In addition to the dates given within the last newsletter, can I also add the following:
- The Mental Maths evening for all parents (from Foundation Stage to Y6) will be held on 25th February at 6.00 pm. A further letter explaining the format of the evening will be sent out just before half term.
(A reminder that Y6 parents’ evenings are on 30th January and the 6th February and that the SATs/Residential meeting will be on 11th February).
