About Us
St Andrew’s C of E Primary School is a popular voluntary controlled school, which caters for pupils aged between 4 and 11.
The school is located in the parish of St Andrew’s Church and has strong links with the church and surrounding community. It is supported well by Governors and has an active PTFA Committee. The school is set in well-established grounds including the playing fields offering excellent sports facilities. The school maintains strong links with Idsall Secondary School through sports initiatives. Kaleidoscope Nursery is situated to the rear of the school and offers wrap around care for our pupils together with a nursery for children aged 0-11. The school offers a variety of lunchtime and after school clubs i.e. sports, Christian faith, gardening, art and homework. Our new Independent Learning Centre was completed in March 2008 incorporates computer pods and a kitchen area for pupils to learn about healthy eating and to gain practical skills in cooking.
The school celebrates many achievements and has received accreditation for Safer Schools, Eco Schools and Healthy Schools to name a few.
The school is very proud of its vegetable garden created in 2006 by our pupils. This hands-on experience of planting and growing vegetables to then be cooked by our award winning school kitchen ties in with our healthy eating initiative. The school has developed links with local Green Acres Organic Farm, creating a unique approach to learning. The school is currently working towards Food for Life status.
